Aveda Beauty School/Born To Style
I had the pleasure of attending a recent session at Calgary’s Aveda Institute for a little Beauty School action, where I was shown and taught how to rock some seriously cool Spring trends, with a little sneak-peek into Fall 2014.
Sadly, I won’t be able to quite execute these looks myself due to my lack of long hair, but I had my camera in tow and can share the tricks that I learned.

Beauty School Look One: Casual Knot (Spring 2013)

This look is super simple to achieve. Start with a low ponytail, and then loop up into the elastic. Take the ends of your hair and wrap around he elastic before bobby pinning into place. Ta-da!
Beauty School Look Two: Fishtail Braid (Spring 2013)

The fishtail braid is super hot for spring. Follow these steps to achieve this look…
-Divide your hair into two large sections, parting straight down the middle.
-Pull a thin strand of hair from the outside of the left section. Pull it over the top of the left section, and grasp it under the right section.
-Repeat on the other side. Pull a skinny strand of hair from the outside of the right section, pull it over the right section, then weave it under the left section.
-Keep alternating sides, weaving over and under, until you reach the bottom of the braid.
-A great tip is that you can backcomb the bottom of the braid to keep it together, versus using an elastic!
-If you don’t want your braid to be super tight and want a more messy-beachy feel, pull it outwards and messy up as needed.
Beauty School Look Three: Fishtail Up-do (Fall 2014)

This Fall 2014 look is funky and cool and a small variation and tweak on the single fish tail braid. Instead, section your hair in half and do two fishtail braids (as in the instructions above) and then wrap them up and bobby pin into place to achieve this awesome up-do!
